Hey, I've decided on a topic for my study- european masquerades! Heres a copy of my study proposal for everyone to see!
*(((look down)))*
For my study, I’ve chosen to research European masquerade balls. I’ve chosen this topic because I’ve always found this topic interesting, but have never been able to find a place where I would fit to study it in school. I’m very excited to study this topic and be able to present it in front of an audience. For my product, I was thinking of having 5 or 6 of my friends dress up in masquerade- type costumes. They would have masks, dresses or skirts, and jewelry and stuff like that. They also would each be holding a mini poster which a different category for my topic. Then I would present each of them.
PS I'll be putting random pictures of my topic randomly throughout my wikispace.
If you know where I could find any information on my topic then let me know. Thanks!

Well I've found information online about my topic, but so far only a couple in books. The online info has been great though!

Here is the general info on my topic:
Masquerade balls first became popular in the fifteenth century in Italy, especially Venice. Members of the upper class would dress up and wear elaborate masks and dance. The balls were elaborate public spectacles. The idea of masquerade balls was probably originally tied to the carnivale celebration, known as Mardi Gras in the United States, but the balls spread to other countries and other times of year. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, masquerade balls spread through Europe and eventually the American colonies. Sometimes the balls were semi-public, while other times they were completely private, held in grand ballrooms built into homes of the day. Some argued that masquerades were immoral and showed the influence of foreign countries (which was frowned upon), but the tradition continues.
Yep yep yep, ally<3 4-7-08
Well I've found several books with some great information (thanks to Mrs. Lloyd!) and so now I'm feeling a lot more confident in my topic and information. Still need to decide on a group to present in front of, though.
Until Next Time,
ALLY <3
